    Geneva 23 2010 - 2015 * Redesign of switch-mode power supplies for the Anti-proton Decelerator machine:
    * Five aging power converters up to 115kW output power upgraded with new IGBTs, filter inductors and capacitors, cabling and electronics. Thermal cycling of semiconductors was evaluated to ensure 15 year lifetime under large case temperature variations. ;
    * The converters were retrofitted at CERN under my supervision. ;
    * Defined and executed test procedures including dielectric testing, fault testing, thermal testing, Bode plots. ;
    * Specification, procurement and testing of magnetic components for various power converters (100kCHF):
    * 620kVA 400V/95V Yd11y0 Rectifier Transformer. ;
    * 2.75mH, 2300A directly water-cooled 600Hz filter inductor. ;
    * 1.25mH, 1550A, 300Hz filter inductor. ;
    * Specification, procurement and testing of 450V, 200A output power stack comprising of 3-phase rectifier, H-Bridge and Brake-chopper mounted on common water-cooled heat sink with DC link capacitor bank and gate drivers (300kCHF). ;
    * Design and specification of hardware for 120V, 250A power converter to be configured in parallel (500A) or series (240V). ;
    * Breakers, contactors, pre-charge circuits. ;
    * 50Hz transformer.
    * Rectifier and H-Bridge.
    * Filters (300Hz, PWM and common-mode). ;
    * Measurement of over-voltages on 18kV 2MVA cast-resin rectifier transformers during opening of upstream breaker under loaded conditions:
    * Specification of measurement equipment; 100kV passive probe with 40MHz bandwidth fibre-optic link for measurement of high frequency differential voltages. ;
    * Frequency characterisation of transformer windings. ;
    * Safety procedure for measurement on 18kV live equipment. ;
    * Processing and analysis of results and suggestions for risk mitigation. ;
    * Project leader for Electronic Power Converters for the ELENA project (Extra Low Energy Antiproton Ring):
    * Collection of requirements for power converters. ;
    * Presenting capabilities of proposed solutions to physicists. ;

    2008 - 2009 * Characterisation of IGBT modules within a 600kW power stack for use in a modular wind turbine power converter. ;
    * Measurement of switching losses of modules as a function of DC link voltage, load current, junction temperature and gate driver resistance. ;
    * MATLAB script interface with scope to automate data collection and processing. ;
    * Design and documentation of safety aspects of the test facility. ;
    * Short circuit testing. ;
    * Internal current sharing of IGBT half-bridge modules at nominal and short-circuit conditions. ;
    * Design of DC link laminate. ;
    * Design and testing of overcurrent protection circuit; in particular measurement of reaction time of PWM blocking during short-circuit testing. ;
    * Specification of voltage surge test on electrolytic capacitors for DC link application. Analysing worst-case voltage conditions based on spread of capacitances from manufacturers' data.
