  • Snowsports - Head Judge

    2018 - maintenant Page 1 of 4

    Munich Area, Germany
Promoted to Head Judge, Snowsports after a category shift at the ISPO
Award. Snowsports incorporates Action Sports, some winter Outdoor category elements and a huge Ski range. I have a team of nearly two dozen category professionals and snowsports lifers on the jury team - it's my job to help pick them (as well as the products in the showcase) - and in the Head Judge role
I encourage debate, have quieter members speak up, suppress dogmatic or prejudiced thinking and reach consensus to select Winners, Gold Winners and the Product Of The Year.

The ISPO Award is represented by a large interactive showcase at the ISPO

  • Zero G Chamonix - Retail Manager - Snowboard

2006 - maintenant Overall responsibility for hardgoods purchasing, sales and store marketing.
Two major sales channels - 400m central Chamonix store with 13 employees, and www.zerogchamonix.com. Plenty of time 'in the trenches' on the shop floor doing sales & customer service, and progressed into merchandising, sales strategy & brand direction. Grew splitboard business to n°1 nationally and developed complementary sales categories (bindings, skins, backcountry gear).

Financials since I took over the snowboard department:
-Increased sales by average 11% per year
-Reduced inventory by average 12% per year
-Maintained or increased average margin in a declining market

Responsible for shaping online strategy and website development via
Prestashop backoffice. Online increased shop turnover by 30% (and still rising). Ran content strategy & implementation, wrote tons of copy, edited product pages, hired & managed marketing assistant position, curated shop
Facebook, Instagram & Twitter accounts... all /zerogchamonix. And still found time to snowboard a bit.

    ISPO Award

My role was that of fixer, employed to maintain member relations and deliver a highly desirable product. I had to upkeep relationships with existing suppliers - mostly leading restaurants and nightclubs in London, New York & Monte Carlo, but also organisations like FIA Formula One, FIFA and Roland Garros. I implemented and and managed a recommend-a-friend
